Looking Beyond The Ordinary…..

As we move forward in the 21 century, in a world of unpredictable change, the survival of society will depend on the depth and breadth of children’s ability to learn, unlearn and relearn. In a shrinking world, they will need to know more than we know and possess more sophisticated skills than we possess. To this end schools must build their capacity to become learning communities.
As Mahatma Gandhi aptly put it –
“The real difficulty is that people have no idea of what education truly is. We assess the value of education in the same manner as we assess the value of land or of shares in the stock exchange market. We want to provide only such education as would enable the student to earn more. We hardly give any thought to the improvement of the character of the educated. Education must be of a new type for the sake of the creation of a new world.”

Educare Development Trust (EDT), through its schools, is committed to improving the quality of the educational process by developing a more rigorous theoretical understanding of this process and of the social, political and cultural contexts in which it occurs. To this end, it conducts teaching and research which are informed by the values of rational inquiry, intellectual independence and respect for evidence and which will foster critical and informed engagement with educational theory, policy and practice.
Dombivli is home to lakhs of people from all walks of life. The area is well planned and the footfalls have been increasing to alarming extents. Such large populace needs, among other things, mass transit systems, water and other civic facilities. But, perhaps the most important and emotionally driven need is the need for good schools where our children can learn to think and grow. Given these facts there is definitely a need and urgent demand for good schools; Schools with the purpose of imparting high quality education at reasonable prices.

Education Tenets
1. Every child is potentially an independent thinker, with an infinite capacity to acquire knowledge.
2. Child-centered education is the achievement of learning outcomes, wherein the pace and content of learning is directed by the child and supported by the facilitator (teacher).
3. Given the space, children are capable of constructing activities that would lead to effective learning outcomes.
4. To see the child in pursuit of knowledge, and not knowledge in pursuit of the child. EDT’S Philosophy
We, at the EDT’s Community Resource Centre would like to:
See a society that is liberal, progressive, healthy and educated, believes in the principles of Equality and humanitarianism, with citizens who are devoted, happy and honest ; Develop proactive, reflective and confident individuals who are capable of creating, contributing and growing through enhanced participation, mutual co-operation and sharing and in turn upholding trust and empathy, dynamism and genuineness to sustain the process of learning and living!!
Present market research shows that many schools in this area do not have their systems and policies in place. Moreover many schools in the area seem to be run with a philosophy of imparting literacy and hardly any school is focusing on all round holistic educative models for children which prove most significant for the development of live thinking minds. Schools based on EDT’s philosophy and teaching methodologies are strongly advocated and appreciated. The market today needs such a school with the right balance of the body, mind and the soul.. .and EDT being firmly grounded in the field of education, has all the resources for such an institution.
